This policy explains what data Ainanet collects, why, who processes it on our behalf, how long we keep it and how you can control it. We collect only what is needed to run the service.
Data we process
- Account: the identifier from Sign in with Apple or Google, and the name and email address that Apple or Google provide to us.
- Reputation (website only): other members may rate you (one rating each, which they can change), from −100 to +100; the ratings make up your level and reputation bar on your website profile. We store who rated whom and how; others see only how many ratings of each kind you have, never who gave them. The apps never rate people.
- Country flag on your pin (optional, website only): if you choose it in the website settings, your pin on the website map shows your country's flag instead of your profession, and people from the same country can find you. Search works only for your own country. The apps never show it.
- Gender (optional, website only): if you choose to set it in the website settings, the outline of your pin on the website map becomes pink or blue. You can leave it unset or remove it at any time. The apps never ask for or show it.
- Age: asked once, to confirm you are 13 or older and to apply the protections for users under 18 (below). We keep the birth year it implies. It is never shown to other users.
- Profile: photos, bio and profession that you choose to add. Business accounts also add a business name, logo, photos and address.
- Country: the country code your account is given when you register, and the country you enter for a marketplace offer of your own. The country of your account is used only to choose which business ad to show you, and in the apps it is never shown to other members. On the website its flag appears in your profile, and on your map pin only if you choose so; people can be searched only by their own country, and only among those who show the flag. The country of an offer belongs to that offer — it is how the offer is found on the map and in the marketplace.
- Business contact details: the phone number, WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram account, website and opening hours a business account enters about itself. They are shown publicly on its page, so that people can get in touch.
- Location: your position, sent while the app is open in the foreground — from any tab, not only the map. It is taken once when you open the app and does not follow you as you move. We store the last position on our server until a newer one replaces it or your account is deleted; the short-lived “on the map right now” record expires within a minute of the app going to the background. Other members only ever see a pin shifted by about 1 kilometer, and never a real distance to you.
- Content you create: posts, replies and comments, aina short videos, photos and videos, marketplace listings and offers, ratings of business accounts (a business page shows who rated it and how).
- Messages: private and group chats, including photos, videos, voice messages, video notes and disappearing messages (deleted after the time you choose).
- Social activity: follows, blocks and reports.
- Device: push-notification tokens and the device language.
- Usage: views in the feed and aina, and impressions and clicks on ads inside the app.
- Server logs: our web server records the IP address, the requested address and the user agent of every request. These logs are kept only for a short time and rotate by size — a log file is closed once it fills up and only the few most recent files are kept, after which the oldest is overwritten.
How we use data
- To provide the service: the feed, aina, marketplace, map, profiles, follows, chats and notifications.
- To keep people safe: age check, moderation of reports, blocking, preventing abuse.
- To show ads from businesses inside Ainanet. Ads are targeted using the country of your account and the profession in your profile, and nothing else. That country is used only to choose which ad to show you and is never shown to other members. This is first-party advertising only: we do not use third-party ad networks, do not track you across other apps or websites and do not sell your data.
What other users see
Your public profile (name, photos, bio, profession) and your posts. If your account is private, posts are shown only to approved followers. On the map, others see an approximate position shifted by about 1 kilometer — never your exact location and never a real distance to you — and only while the app is open on your device. Your profession travels to your map pin only if you switch on “Let people find me by profession”; that switch is off by default, and people are looked up on the map by profession only. Your country never appears on your pin or in your profile. You can disappear from the map completely at any time: the eye button on the map or Profile → Settings (gear) → “Hide me on the map” — then no one sees you on the map. Your age and email are never shown.
Venus account: on Venus others see only its nickname, photo, bio, gender (if you set it) and a map pin shifted by about 3 kilometers by its own key, so it does not match your pin on Earth. The link between your Venus account and your main account is kept on our server only and is never shown to other users. A locked Venus account shows only its nickname and has no pin on the map. A conversation in a Venus room is deleted entirely, with its photos and voice messages, as soon as the room is freed.
Service providers
- Our own server, rented from the hosting provider GoHost (Kazakhstan) — application, database and chat;
- Cloudflare (R2 storage and content delivery) — photos, videos and other files;
- Apple (Sign in with Apple, Apple Push Notification service, Apple Maps on iOS);
- Google (Google Sign-In and Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android);
- Stream (GetStream.io) — only an archive of chat history from app versions before September 2026; no new messages are sent there, and the archive will be deleted;
- CARTO and OpenPlanetaryMap map tiles — to draw maps (Earth maps on Android, Mars and Moon maps). Tile servers receive the map area being viewed, not your account data.
Providers process data only to deliver their part of the service. Each of them is bound by a contract to protect your data to the same standard as this policy, and that duty covers any related company of theirs that gets access to it. We may disclose data if required by law.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account in the app: Profile → Settings (gear) → Delete account. This permanently deletes your profile, posts, listings, offers, chats and media, and it also revokes the Sign in with Apple token we hold for you, so the app loses access to your Apple Account. You can also stop using your Apple Account with Ainanet in iPhone Settings → your name → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple. Copies in backups are removed within 30 days; web-server logs rotate by size, as described above, and are kept only for a short time.
Reports and moderation. When someone reports content, we keep a copy of it in the moderation record — the text, the images and the author’s name as they were at the moment of the report — even if the original was then deleted or was a disappearing message. Without that copy a moderator would have nothing to judge and deleting the evidence would be enough to escape a ban. The record is kept while the case is open and afterwards for as long as it is needed as the author’s history of repeat offences; it is never shown to other users, only to our moderators. You can also request deletion by writing to support@ainanet.com.
Your rights and choices
You can view and edit your profile, make your account private, hide yourself on the map, switch “Let people find me by profession” back off, turn off location access or notifications in your device settings, and delete your account. Turning off a permission or a switch withdraws your consent for that data; some features will then not work. You may ask us for access to, correction or deletion of your data by writing to support@ainanet.com.
Children
Ainanet is for people aged 13 and over. We do not allow accounts for anyone under 13 and delete such accounts when we learn about them. Users aged 13–17 get extra protection: Venus (the separate anonymous world) is not available to them, and adults do not see them on the map. Where local law requires a parent's or guardian's consent for a person of that age, it must be given before registering. See also our Child Safety Standards.
Security
All connections use HTTPS. When a file is uploaded, location and GPS data (EXIF, XMP, IPTC) are removed from photos, and container metadata — including the coordinates and the device model a phone camera writes there — is removed from videos; a video whose metadata cannot be removed is rejected rather than stored. Access to servers is restricted.
Changes
We may update this policy. The current version is always available at this address; for important changes we will notify you in the app.
